The City of Surprise has had a long standing working relationship with National Sign Plazas. When they began planning the construction for their state-of-the-art Civic Center they directed the landscape architects and planners to work directly with NSP staff to design, plan, fabricate and install the directional signage.
Further, as the Civic Center has a dedicated street network leading in and around the facility, NSP staff handled the location details, construction and installation of the entire street sign package.
After the Civic Center opened the City continued working with NSP staff to design and plan every detail of wayfinding and environmental graphics for the parks and recreation space that now exists behind the Civic Center. Plans to develop a little league baseball center are currently underway and the City has every intention to continue their working relationship with NSP to service these new facilities.
As the population quadrupled in the 2000s, the City adopted NSP’s Home Builder Directional Sign Program to support new home sales without the clutter of unsightly temporary home builder signage. Mayor Joan H. Shafer called the program “One of those few opportunities to solve a problem and at the same time please everyone involved.” Learn more.
